Hi @ajwool If you are asking can BBC iPlayer play 4K HLG then the answer is yes, at least for us with the latest firmware (v6.5603). The 4K HDR clips look really good.

Hi @LightFoot, I knew that the firmware had been updated, but thought we were waiting in the BBC to update the app. Is there any 4k content to test this with? Thanks

There was some content the other week, a clip from Planet Earth II and some "live" Football, worryingly for me the football content didn't work on my XE9005 and would crash after a few seconds, the Planet Earth II footage was amazing though.

Hi @ajwool The Blue Planet II clip was stunning, unfortunately the BBC have taken it down again. The football clip had a problem.

I wonder if the problem is the crappy ethernet port on the TV, as while its supposed to be 100Mb/s I have noticed it seems to have trouble sometimes, I wonder if this explains why the "Live" FA Cup test was failing on my XE9005 although the Planet Earth II clip was fine.....

Yes I also just noticed that. So my question is how come those folks with an XE9005 reported that they were able to watch the UHD clips whilst they were briefly available again over the past 2 weeks?

Some people have mentioned the clips are back up today but I can't test as not home (edit: just seen your post over on the avforums, damn. confirmed then. No 4K for us with XE9005).

My worry is the "live" football test didn't work on my XE9005 even though the other clips did and I am thinking is that why its not on the list?

Maybe some issue with live streaming HLG content? The Planet Earth II UHD clip was flawless on my XE9005 but the football just would not work for more than a few seconds.

The newer XF90 model from 2018 is on the list. So I don't think its am ommision by mistake.

Whats even more bizare is the 2018 XF8305 *is* supported and that shares the same bloody X1 hardware as the 2017 XE9005. 😞

Awwww no XD8599 support. Some 2015 tvs are supported though so I don't see why mine isn't. There are loads of mega cheepo budget uk supermarket and aldi/asda models supported though :'( FML for paying £1500 for a midrange tv at launch.

Yeh its really pretty depressing. No word from Sony or the BBC. It will all be ignored again just as it was with the Blue Planet fiasco.

It's not like sky Q or even apple tv 4k or roku 4k are carrying it so we do rely on sony here.

I wake up to my Marantz 2016 amp upgrading to hlg format. Why can't Sony and the BBC get this together they have 2 weeks until I sell this TV!

you think you have a right to moan i paid £3500 for mine in 2016 a xd9305 and i did get word back from sony and the bbc, and its the same old rubbish, they both point their fingers at each other and blame each other for the issue. gotta love that customer service.

I'll have to rely on the Virgin V6 box working as it's TBC on the website
