Why does my KD-49XG9005 not know what aspect ratio to choose?

Hello,

I've had my Sony Android TV for 2 months, I even received a system update, which is great.

However, what baffles me is why when I watch channels like TalkingPicures where movies are not always in wide format I have to manually change the aspect ratio/format? It's a switch between Full and Normal setting in the Wide Mode. Is there any way I can tell my TV to do it automatically? I have a very old Sharp TV which can do it, it knows it somehow, I had a Panasonic TV that could do it, why this Sony TV can't?
