Why doesn’t my tv picture look like it’s HD?

My tv is connected to a sky box.

Why doesn’t my picture look like it’s in HD. I have a less expensive tv upstairs and compared to this and my son’s and daughter’s tvs it definitely is not showing HD and should be on HD channels. Is it a setting or something. Thank you.

Are you sure you are selecting the HD versions of the channels you select.

Click through the guide to see if your Sky box has tuned into HD channels.

Are you also using a terrestrial aerial to get Freeview channels?

Just out of interest are you using a Virgin media box? My HD channels look terrible on my TV after they installed another box and they won't do anything about it. 😠
