Charged the phone last night as usual and all seemed ok this morning worked fine then just before dinner time checked my phone and found it completely dead.

Ive tried i think all solutions on the internet (volume up and power on - nothing. volume down and power on - nothing. power on on its own - nothing. Charger on plus above - nothing charger off plus above - nothing) tried connecting to sony service and PC wont find device.

Help!

thanks Jason

Have you tried force restart?(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates).Or force shutdown(the same combination until the phone vibrates 3 times). After force shutdown try to turn on the phone normally. If nothing works, take it back to sony center.

I have exactly the same problem - totally dead. No sequence of buttons or charging or anything has any effect at all.

Been through with 3 - total waste of time. Spoken directly to Sony - very friendly but totally and completely useless.

Best response is to register with Sony, who talk about returning the phone but have no information about how to do this. Even registratoin asks for the IMEI number - how the **bleep** can I get that form a dead phone ?

Pretty useless response from a major manufacturer about a prety expensive product.

As Jim Royle would say "Warranty my a@@e !"

I did the update to Lollipop and all was well throughout the day till I put my Z Ultra on the charger that night at 15%. In the morning, my phone was completely dead. No lights, no vibrations, nothing. I put it back on the charger and started surfing for answers. None of the procedures that I was finding were doing anything.

I tried:
- 3 different cables (including the Sony Cable and a super short cable)
- 2 different USB plugs
- 3 different outlets
- the virtual battery pull procedure (vol down+power)
- the reset button (next to the SIM tray)
- the soft reset procedure (vol up+power).
- using PC Companion but it could not even see the phone

I did each of the reset procedures multiple times. It had sat charging for 4 hours and none of the above did anything. So I called Sony. The rep said that there was no hope at this point and that it would take a miracle. But I didn't want to lose all of my photos and believe in electronic miracles!

- I unplugged it for a half hour (thinking that capacitors may need to discharge)
- I did all of the "reset" procedures again (noted above)
- When I plugged it back in, I got my sons USB ipad charger which has a higher amp rating and used the original Sony cable. I put the charger into a GFI circuit that was "popped" and then hit the reset button on the circuit (thinking along the lines of a defibrillator giving a spike of electricity to a heart to get it started)

and voila, the red charging light came on! Don't know if it was just the diligence of everything that I tried or one particular thing.
