I am creating this topic so we can share all the bugs found in the latest Android 10 update. I had the update installed for 5 days and was able to detect some graphical and performance glitches. If you have any issues please share it here so we can provide it to the software team.

THEME

~~The system dark mode randomly resets to light mode, had to restart the phone to enable it again without manually toggling the dark mode switch on!~~
UPDATE 12/23** The auto reset issue didnt happen again after perfroming factory reset and software repair via Xperia Companion. The only time the system theme switches from Dark to light automatically is when the phone is connected to the car via Android Auto during the day time, which I dont believe its a bug.

COLOR

Super Vivid mode, randomly gets enabled after restarting the phone which ends up bricking the creator mode.

MEDIA PLAYBACK

Frame rate issue when playing live stream videos on multiple platforms, such as AT&T TV and YouTube TV. Ended up restarting the phone to fix the issue
UPDATE 1/3** The issue is also affecting movie playback through the Google PLay Movie app

BATTERY

Charging speed is slower, doesn't charge as is used to be using PD charger (will provide more info)
UPDATE 12/17** The issue is only applicable to powerbanks. I used two diffrent brands with PD charging speed (18W) The battery took long time to fully charge (3+ hours). I was able to charge the phone using supplied 18W PD adapter (25%-80%) in 50 mins

HOME LAUNCHER

Folder animation are not rendered correctly. For example, when opening and app within a folder on desktop and returning back to the desktop, the app icon replaces the folder icon for a second then defaults back to the folder icon (check video)
UPDATE 12/31** added video

~~App icons in app drawer randomly disapper leaving color pallete in its place (see screenshot)~~
UPDATE 01/07** turned out an app was casuing this issue

~~App switcher and app drawer animation are not smooth while scrolling anymore.~~
UPDATE 01/03** App switcher and app drawer animation are behaving normally after switching Stamina Level to "Balanced Power Saving" option. The pre-selected "Battery time preffered" option caused all of the issued I had for performance and animation.

Did you reset your phone yet? It is always a good idea to factory reset an Android phone after every update

Yeah, did a factory reset and software repair through Xperia companion. Nothing had changed. All problems listed in this thread still exist

Hi there , I am from HK as well.

I think one think we must realise, is that the repair service could not do anything about the software.

This is obviously a software issue.

My phone didn't have the bug that you have mentioned.

Lucius_Xperia5, of course its a software issue. The phone had none of these problems mentioned before Android 10 update. So just to be clear, your phone don't have any of these issues mentioned?

To Summerize 5 main issues are present.

Home Launcher has folder animation glitch (see video above) and icons gets blanked out from time to time in app drawer (see screenshot above)
Media playback frame rate issues for streaming services like AT&T TV, YouTube TV and even Google PLay Movies.
Stamina level activates even if Stamina mode is off! Users better of selecting "Balanced power saving" stamina level without affecting device performance. (see screenshot above)
Super Vivid mode, randomly gets enabled after restarting the phone which ends up bricking the creator mode.
Battery charges slow when connected to a power bank

Hi @KBadOne

I would suggest to do another software repair with Xperia companion.

Especially this blanked out icons make it suspect that there is an app on your phone interfering.

Stamina is on when the battery has red lines instead of white. Maybe it is just the advise to turn on stamina mode?

How is it behaving in safe mode? Same problems?

I ended up doing another factory rest and software repair today, will report back in a day or two with an update

Let the process proceed to the end undisturbed.

In this forum go Information and FAQ (it's in the support app and on youtube as well)

Creating a backup is one thing, restoring another thing.

When you restore everything you're likely to restore the problems as well.

Make a clean start and restore just what you need most.

PS Messenger apps like Signal and WhatsApp should be backuped from within the settings in the app.

I did all of that and made sure not to restore any backup except for contacts after doing the software repair. I am writing my findings should post them shortly

After doing factory reset and software repair for the 3rd time. I came to the following conclusion, and 100% sure of my findings!

COLORS

Super vivid mode glitch exists randomly as default color setting after booting up the phone. When that glitch happens, Creator mode image settings don’t work at all! Try going to the “image quality settings” and switch from “standard mode” to “creator mode”. The image color temperature don’t change at all! It remains the same, check out the grey color tone. They are both the same tone when the glitch is on (check image below)

I had to reboot the phone several times in order to get this glitch off, when I was successfully able to do so, the colors switched correctly to creator mode once it is selected and super vivid mode was not the default color after booting up and the grey color tone changed correctly which is a warmer color temp.

MEDIA PLAYBACK

Video randomly stutters/freezes/frame skips through various streaming apps. I have tested this on Netflix, Google Play Movies, YouTube TV and they all suffer from this plague! You can’t watch anything on this phone after Android 10 update! I tried to find a pattern to when it happens or what triggers it, but I was unable to because it just happens randomly! Only default preinstalled apps were on the phone when tested this and SD card was removed. Tested on offline playback as well.

HOME LAUNCHER

The animation issue with the Home launcher folders and icons (see video) only happens when the "system navigation" is switched to “gesture navigation” option. I guarantee you will have the same issue once you switch to that navigation style! Tested that on Xperia 1 and another Xperia 5 at a retail store.

The disappearing icons in app drawer glitch did not happen again after I uninstalled an app called “Snapmod” I think it was causing this issue!

CHARGING

The phone still charges slow when its connected to a PD portable power bank rated at 18W. Check the images below to see exactly how much longer it took to charge it vs charging it using the 18W AC adapter supplied with the phone. Tested on Anker and Mophie products.

I upgraded to the latest firmware 55.1.A.3.49. Issue still exist! All of them. I contacted Sony Xperia Engineering team 2 weeks and ago and they finally acknowledged the issues.

Hopefully it will get corrected soon!

Discord bottom navigation panel is not switching to dark color in dark mode.

And couldn't find sony themes from android 9.

Uhhmmm... My post has been deleted or what... So once again...

Hello, the following list are bugs for me:

1. Wi-Fi icon is greyed out. I can turn it on, but it looks like it cannot be activated

2. Xperia clocks change from vertical to horizontal (seems it only does when I run the game, press the power button and then press it again to check the time whilst the game is still running)

3. Stamina mode turns on by itself (rarely, but it does)

4. Apps like 9gag, Instagram, Xperia wallpaper do huge battery drain just running on background

5. EDIT: seems like Android 10 messed up timestamp in Album app

6. EDIT2: music app shows triplicate / quadruplicate of albums

7. EDIT3: Not sure if it is a feature, but. When I miss a call, I immediatelly see the callers ID together with the number - it merges together after 2 seconds.

Yes, I did factory reset, clean installed Android 10.
