I just bought a Sony Xperia z3 compact on eBay unlocked.i inserted sim it asked for a sim lock code.i entered the code but no dice.is there a default code ?

Standard SIM lock code is 0000

Anyway you should read the documentation that goes with your SIM card.

Or do you mean an unlock code for your phone itself?

Hi @Keng347, welcome to our forum!

If it asking for a PIN code unlock the SIM card, you may have received documentation together with your SIM card as @Strampke wrote. This should include both the PIN code for the SIM card and the PUK code. If you did not receive this documentation or you have a question regarding the PIN code for the SIM card, please get in touch with your operator/service provider as they are the ones providing these codes.

If it is asking for a PIN code to unlock the SIM network in your device, you will need to get in touch with your operator as well to get a hold of a code to remove this network lock.

FAO: Official Sony Support Staff.

Fine in principle - but have spent 4 days and numerous calls / chats / emails to Vodafone to get a Network Unlock code for my Xperia Z3 Compact. The NUC provided does not work - and there seems no way to escalate to the manufacturer to get a code that does work.

Any advice?

Hi @Malcolm1, sorry to hear about this.

Have you made sure that there are attempts remaining in the device? You can see that if you open up the phone application and type in *#*#7378423#*#* > Service info > SIM lock.

To the right of [X] Network, there should be a number. What digit is shown here? If it's 0 you don't have any attempts left to unlock the device and you will need to get in touch with your Local support team and they will assist you further.

If there are attempts left, you can only get the code from your operator as they are the ones that have locked your device to begin with.

I notice that you purchased the phone from ebay. How confident are you of the seller? Could it have been lost/stolen, in which case the IMEI of the phone may have been added to a blacklist called the Equipment Identity Register. Any phones on this register can not be re-activated and you should raise the matter with Ebay/Paypal

@Malcolm1, you can ask your operator if they can check if the IMEI is blacklisted or not, as they should be able to check this on their end.

The code that you need to unlock the network lock is provided by your operator, so please get in touch with them and they will provide a NUC code for you.

I don't have access to the network unlocking code that you need as this is provided by the operator that locked the device, so get in touch with them and they will help you with getting a hold of the network unlocking code.

Hi @4499, sorry for the late reply, I have been out of office due to vacation.

If you need a network unlocking code, you will need to get in touch with your operator since we do not have these codes, your operator does.
