GPS issue with 10.1.1.A.1.307

Greetings,

I have encountered a weird issue with the gps signal. I will try to describe it with steps:

1. Gps works as expected.

2. After closing some random gps application (with back button, an optionally clearing it from the native task manager) the gps signal on the top bar stays on for some significant time.

3. When I open any other application that needs gps the signal is quite wrong (in the same area but ~200meters away) and turning off/on the gps doesn't help.

4. If I restart the device gps works fine.

Any ideas are welcome, no weird application has been installed between upgrading.

for ur problem 2,

the gps icon remains because u have gps reciever switched on. closing apps and removing them from recent apps bar would NOT turn off gps. u have to manually turn it off.( use the tools widget to quickly turn on and off gps, backlight, sound, wifi etc)

and for ur problem 3,

download an app named "GPS status", get a clear view of sky, turn on gps and data/ wifi, fire up the app, see if u r getting ur coordinates(latitude n longitude). if not then tap reset gps, check if u r getting coordinates, and a bit later get xtra data( this will use data). now ur gps shud work well.

see if that sorts ur problem.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. It seems that there is no communication with the GPS. However, everything works after restarting. These screenshots are with GPS on under a clear sky.

well thats strange... ur not getting any sats in view. considering u get a fix after a restart, it might be a software bug...

sorry to be talking like a " customer care executive", but i think a FACTORY DATA RESET will solve this problem. however, i think u must consult some experts here... like GeoffH, uliwooly, or sony support team (try an email). also contact ur local sony customer care( but i guess they will tell u to reset easy for them harder and harder for us). they MIGHT have another solution.

IF ur set for a FACTORY RESET, dont forget to backup first.(dont rely fully on google sync :smileysilly:) there are giudes on how to backup on this site(just search), and on internet as well.

Good news, after "experimenting" and killing running and cached processes left and right, it seems that my problem was caused from the "location-based wifi". Although it was set OFF, after stoping it and clearing data (and restarting) seems that it has fixed my issue. So far the device hasn't lost the gps signal for ~16hours. I'll keep you posted if it changes.

Oh good u got it fixed... Well now dont worry u will not lose GPS signal. It will remain.

I thought of these settings at first but ruled it out because u got GPS fix after restart.
