Z3 Compact - micro SD card won't stay in slot, always bounces out...please help!

Hi I've been trying to expand storage by putting a 32gb micro SD card into the slot, but the card won't stay in. The phone recognises the SD card, but the card is "removed" whenever I let my finger go. I've tried two other micro SD cards and they won't stay either. I can hear the "click", but afterwards the card still bounces out.

The phone is not damaged and is hardly used. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I fix it, or do I have to send it back to Sony (would rather not as I need the phone...).

ps: Also does the battery life shorten after many cycles of recharging (i.e. would a brand new phone's battery last longer than a 6 month old battery, if so roughly by how much?)

Hi Farella, I would advise contacting Sony Xperia Customer Care in your region as soon as possible so you can have your handset's SD card slot assessed. In regards to the battery life, there is not likely to be a difference in battery life between phones of different ages. However the battery life is dependant on how much you use the phone and what you use it for, with general usage and by using Sony original charging accessories the battery life will stay the same.

Thanks. So a phone that's been in daily use for 6 months would not have a shorter battery life per 100% charge than a brand new phone with a new battery? I ask this as my old ipod's battery life per charge was noticeably shorter after 6 months of use, and my laptop's battery life is certainly shorter after a year's of use.

I have the very same problem as Farella on my Xperia Compact. After 8 month of normal use, my micro sd card doesn't want to stay in the slot, exactly as describbed by Farella.
Have you managed to fix it ? Did you send it back ? (I also need the phone...)

I have the same problem, but I think I found a way to keep my SD card in.

For my phone, I cut tiny rectangles a little smaller than the size of the SD card from the sticky strip across the top of a post it/sticky note. Then I stuck this on the top side of the SD card ( the side with the writing and without the gold contacts). For my phone, I used two little rectangles on top of each other, but I would just add them one at a time until the card stays in. I guess you could also use tape, but I used sticky notes because it's what I had lying around.

I think this works by making the card a bit thicker and wedging the card inside the phone. In any event, it has worked for me.

Iv'e got a big problem I expend my memory to 64gb and after I saw an app software instal version 1.0.A.23 and I cannot delete it help me please I speak french too thanks!

oh, yes, great advice guys, did you go to uni to learn that??!! perhaps you can tell me how to easily remove torn pieces of paper stuck in an sd card slot, and maybe even more helpful would be advice on how to fix a butchered sd card slot after removing said torn pieces of paper from it?? idiots!

is anyone on this forum any use at all?

I have the same problem. I wanna have it repaired by Sony rather as putting paper in the slot.
How much do you guys think it's going to cost?

I have like a year warranty.

I have this issue too and I'm very disappointed in quality of parts inside Sony phones.

This is third time I need to send phone in service and last time they had it for almost a month only to repair headphone jack. Fortunately phone is still under warranty but I lost my patience with Sony.

Phone and Software are really great but with those unacceptable hardware issues i can't trust Sony anymore and unfortunately future of Sony Mobile probably won't be a bright one...

I had the same problem. One day that I opened the side cap to charge the phone, the SD card popped out and I could not get it to stay in the slot.

I took the phone back to Sony Service and got it back in three days, fixed.

I had the same issue with my Z3 Compact, I couldn't keep my sd card in the slot, it kept bouncing out. I tried your solution, although I didn't have post it notes handy, so I used transparent tape. And it worked!

You my man, are a live safer! I had to use my old Z3 since my Z5 is (again) broken. But the SD card wouldn't stick anymore. I'm going on holiday next week so a repair is out of the question. Since it's only a temporary solution this is what I was looking for. Thanks for posting it out here!

btw: I also used tape instead of sticky notes. While at it, I extended the tape at the end of the SD card to make a 'grip' to get it out more easily.

I had the same problem and fixed it in this way: took a clip, straightened it and use one of the extremities to push further the sd into the slot.

So, I inserted it and I put my finger on to avoid the pops out then I just took the clip and push further the sd on the slot. I think that in this way the slot will host the sd in a better way.

That solution worked for me, without any paper or tape. Hope it helps and hope that it will last.

Anyway I'll let you know....
