Missed call icon doesn't clear

Twice today I have had missed calls, the missed call icon appears in the notification tray but dones't clear when I list my call log. Pulling the notification tray down, I have a big blank notification that I can't clear. Slightly annoying

Hi @Davej311,

That sounds strange, sorry to hear about that.

Have you tried to just do a normal reboot of your phone and see if both the icon and the notification disappears? If you haven't done that I'd recommend that you start with that!

The same problem on my Z5 compact. Icon is cleared only after phone restart.:-(

Hi @ph55, sorry to hear that you are experiencing the same behaviour.

Does the icon / notification disappear if you view your call log or if you remove the missed call(s) from your call log?

To remove a call from the call log follow the instructions below.

From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
Find and tap Phone.
Tap the item you want to delete.
Tap Call details.
Tap the trash bin icon in the top right corner.

You can also try and reboot your phone in safe mode > ask someone to call your phone and don't pick up the call and see if you can clear the notification by viewing the call log or by swiping away the notification. This way we can see if this is caused by a third party application!

Hi,

unfortunately icon/notification doesn't disappear when I remove missed call from call log. The only way I can remove it is restart the phone. And what is worse this fault appears randomly so I'm not able to test it by rebooting in safe mode.:-(

Thanks a lot for getting back to me!

Can you see any pattern in when it occurs, for example if the phone haven't been used for a while the notification isn't being removed if you don't restart your phone or after using a specific application?

I understand that it's very hard to replicate in safe mode since it does not occur at all times and having your phone rebooted in safe mode isn't the most fun thing in the world!

I would recommend that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion, this will delete all data stored on the internal storage of your phone and reinstall the latest available software.

Since data is being deleted, creating a backup using Xperia Companion is advised.

Same as you, everytime after I missed the call, it appears on the call log.

And the only way to remove it is to reboot my phone. lol

I also tap in the phone call history to check but it still there.

It seems this problem happening on most of us.

Is the notification not being removed unless you restart your device every time you have a missed call or is it the same as @ph55 experienced, that its not every time?

If the notification is not being removed at all, could you try rebooting your phone in safe mode and either place a call to your number from a different phone or ask a friend, colleague or family member to call your device and see if the notification disappears after you view the call log?

I had the same problem.... But i found the solution. When i was using Nugat firmware (Indian) then i was facing that problem... Then i flash my phone Nugat firmware (Malaysia) then problem was solved.

Yes!! It's a bug... Notification(missed Cal, mobile data off dialogue)stays there until we do a restart. I experienced this atlst twice a day.

can you check with your Phone/Dialer app if there are missed calls that have not been seen? try to boot to safe mode to eliminate the possibility that this caused by an app

Thanks!! I'm a dev basically and I'm aware of these safe modes,data or cache clearing things!! I always post an issue only after I come across all these things (including xc repair) _

so the problem isn't fixed by software repair using Xperia Companion? your last resort would be to send your device to your local service center. Local support, i know this might sound too extreme just for a software problem , but unless you can and know how to install / flash roms they might be able to sort it out

It's a bug itself came with Nougat!!it's nothing to do with local support team!! _flashing another region ftf was able to solve this issue.. But it's not the reliable way _ it can be resolved only from their (pr team) side.

Thanks!! As I said I came across all these things (both local and global support teams, call backs from them, mails bla bla) and I found this is the more reliable way to let them know or acknowledge about the issues which an end user is experiencing and get atlst proper reply from support team here instead of endingup " perform a software repair sir" which was being said in mails and call backs.

Hello everyone, apologizes for the late reply.

I would like to take a closer look at this and would appreciate if any of you experiencing this behaviour could provide me with some logs of this behaviour.

To do this:

1. Go to Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number.
2. Go back and select Developer options then set Logger buffer size and change it to "4 MB"
3. Restart your phone, then replicate the behaviour.
4. Go back to Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report" followed by "Interactive bug report".

When the report is ready you will receive a notification. Tap the notification to share it. I suggest you upload it to Google Drive and then choose to share a public link to the upload and include the link in the PM.

Same problem here, quite annoying, at least once a day I have to restart the phone.

I followed the steps described before, now I wait for the problem to reoccur, in order to send the logs.
