WH-1000XM3 not adapting to environment

So the adaptive noise cancelling used to work fine, but for the last couple of months is has stopped (after an update) unless the headphone app is front and centre.

Is this a fault with the headphones?

I've done a full reset etc, but it simply won't work now

This is a serious fault. Has Sony not responded to you positively?

Haven't spoken to tech support yet.

Wanted to see if anyone else had it and could provide a fix
