Sony a6500, a6400 and other crop bodies that have E mount will work with all e mount lenses, even if they are for Apsc or Full Frame.

The thing that changes is the foval distance. For example, a 50mm on a full frame mounted on an Apsc body with 1.5 crop factor will be a 75mm. A 16-35mm FF zoom lens mounted on an apsc camera with 1.5 crop factor will be like 24-52.5mm and so on.

Also to have in mind that, at the same f number, the FF camera will have shallower depth of field. E.g. f1.8 on Full frame will be shallower than f1.8 on a crop body.

All the decent E-mount cameras currently available, i.e. a6000, a6400, a6500, seem to be advertised as accepting APS-C lenses, yet Sony/Zeiss also make full-frame lenses for E-mount cameras. How does this work? How can I use a full-frame lens with an APS-C camera? Do I need an adapter, or do I just lose some of the full-frame capability?

Many thanks,

Denis
