Ich würde gerne meinen Vaio PCG-C1MGP über den i-Link Anschluß booten um z.B. das Bios upzudaten (schönes Wort). Mit dem Sony PCGA-CRWD2 ist das kein Problem.
Nun habe ich mir aber das neuere DRX-710UL zugelegt. Leider erkennt das Bios dieses Sony-Laufwerk nicht. Kann mir jemand helfen??:smileyconfused:

My German is bad, so if you need help maybe Seb can do the translating?

You can only use a supported CD/DVD drive, ie the PCGA-CRWD2. The other drive will not work because it's not set in the BIOS to be recognised over iLink.

Exactly that's the problem. It doesn't work. He had tried it with a PCGA-CRWD2 and it works without any problems. But know he has bought a DRX-710UL which doesn't work.

The DRX-710UL is a Dual Layer DVD drive from Sony.

Thats because the BIOS doesn't see this as a supported device, it's normal.

Ah, then he need's a BIOS update. There is a update on the VAIO-link. But I think not that it solve the problem.

Danke für die Hilfen, um das Bios upzudaten sollte ich mit dem DRX-710UL von iLink booten. So beißt sich der Hund in den Schwanz; oder war es die Katze. Danke

BTW: kannst du dir nicht das andere Laufwerk, was ja funktioniert hat, wieder ausborgen und damit das BIOS aktualisieren?

Ich habe auf dem Laptop ein neues Bios-update.
Mein DVD-Laufwerk hat auch ein Neues bekommen.
Das Ergebnis ist leider das gleiche.
Warum sollte Sony im Bios gezielt kein anderes Laufwerk
zulassen??
