Laptop Problem KERNAL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR

My PCG FX705 Laptop keep crashing and coming up with an error KERNAL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.

iT ASKS ME TO DISABLE BIOS

cAN ANYONE HELP?

This relates to quite a serious error in the program that actually controls the basic functions of the Windows software!

You may have to perform a full system recovery!

Use the CD that came with your computer.

NOTE: you will lose all the information on your hard drive during a system recovery and the laptop will be as it was the day you purchased it!

At worst it could also indicate hard disk failure in that this part of Windows simply cannot be accessed from the hard disk!

Neither senario is particulalry good!

Try to boot to command prompt by pressing F8 before the Windows Logo
Type in chkdsk /mbr
Restart the PC

When I boot up in safe mode where do you enter the chkdsk/mbr.

Sorry if this is a bit obvious but I arrived at the windows screen.

If it is the virus? Will this get rid of it.

The computer has also been giving some clicking noises at irregular intervals

Start > Run > Command

Sounds like your hard disk is damaged
Doing this will remove the virus from the master boot recrod.
If this does work a full system scan is recomended.

If you can restart your computer after the error message, Autochk runs automatically and tries to map out the bad sector. If for some reason Autochk does not scan the hard disk for errors, manually start the disk scanner. If your computer is formatted with the NTFS file system, run Chkdsk /f /r on the system partition. You must restart your computer before the disk scan begins. If you cannot start your computer due to this issue, use the Command Console and run Chkdsk /r.
Defective or unreliable random access memory (RAM) is another common cause of this issue.
Verify that all the adapter cards in your computer are properly seated.
Ensure that all adapter card contacts are clean.
Disable system caching in the BIOS to see if this resolves the error.
If this does not resolve the issue, your computer mainboard (motherboard) may be damaged. Hopefully it isn't

Follow Snipes excellent advice. That's exactly what I just did to get my computer to start again after it declared the hard drive unmountable.

Above post says it all really. Failed hard drive and no working backup drive. I'm trying to copy it all via the network before it goes totally. Still, I'm feeling slightly smug using a fully working computer that was unmountable this morning lol.

Happened to me TT - one file - the help file for Adobe PhotoShop Elements 2.0 - cleared up using CHKDSK and AUTOCHK - wierd! Very slow to access some files - but CHKDSK did speed things up no end - along with Defrag.
