Blue screen with message 0x0000007a on my vaio pcg-fx705

Hello people,
first of all i have to apologize for my English I'm from Holland

I have a problem with my notebook.
I have a sony pcg-fx705 since oktober 2002. The problem started sinds the beginning of this month.

It started with a smart failure message:

smart failure predicted on hard disk 0: hitachi_dk23da-30-(pm) 
warning: immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. it may be imminent

My computer repeatedly reboots out of nowhere.

In my BIOS this message was on the screen

Primary master: 0mb
Secondary master: CD ROM

or sometimes:

Primary master: NONE
Secondary master: CD ROM

I never did a hardware upgrade on my notebook since i have it in my possesion.

Also this blue screen message was shown later.

A problem has detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hard-/software is properly installed.

if this problem continues, disable/ remove any newly installed hardware/software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

Beginning dump of physical memory

I did the memory test -> al tests were good
I bought a new hard disk, the same blue screen came out of nowhere again.
I even bought a new memory card, still the same problem.
Now i have a notebook where the message "Operating System not found" is shown on the screen.

Could somebody help me please ?

Hm..........a bit of a stab in the dark this as I have never seen your particular problem before, but it sounds like the problem isn't actually with your hard drive as you naturally thought. It looks like the problem is simply with the motherboard communicating with the hard drive itself, maybe a dodgy connection between them? I'd wait for someone else to confirm or deny this in case I'm wrong but I'd be prepared to send it in for a service if it's still under warranty. Numbers @ www.vaio-link.com if you need them.

Hi people, thx for the reponses, a company is reparing the pc.

But i have a question, if you want to replace a hard disk, do you have to pay attention to the brand of the new hard disk ?

Sony placed a hitachi hard disk in the notebook when i bought it, I replaced it with a new Maxtor/Seagate hard disk, but the same error came on the screen ....

No, normally using any EIDE drive should be fine...

Hi, thx again for all the responses, it wasn't the hdd but a cable between my hdd and the board that was defective.
It's fixed now
