topic Modem Problems in PCs & Accessories

I'm having a terrible time trying to get the internal modem to work with my FX802 notebook.

I'm constantly receiving the following error when trying to dial:

Error 633: The modem (or the connecting device) is already is use or is not properly configured.

I've tried checking the COM port through device manager and COM 3 (modem port) doesn't even show up (even when the modem is working). Through the modem & phone options, I've run the diagnostics and modem query and this tells me nothing other than its either working or if the port can't be found. Troubleshooting offers no help either.

It appears there is some hardware conflict or something or rather???

Is there anyway of fixing this??? So far I've been left to restarting my computer until it finally recognises the modem... sometimes restarting ten or more times!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Andy
