Did someone mention in the forum not so long ago that the paint / finish on some of the newer VAIOs comes off easily, particularly where your palms rest?:smileysad:

I do hope not, but if this is true I will try to be as careful as possible. Is there any way to prevent it?

I have taken to removing the 'Designed for Windows XP', 'ATI' and 'Intel Inside' stickers as soon as I get a new VAIO as i find over time they get tatty (where you hands rub against them). Additionally, if they are left on for too long the leave a mark when removed as the rest of the case has either faded or been slightly worn! Neither of which looks particuarly good.

I'd rather get rid of them straight away and have a clean looking VAIO!

CW

It will stick to the Sellotape and be harmlessly removed from the VAIO

However, as I said earlier, if the stickers have been on for a long time they may always leave a mark.

This is due to the fact that the paint on the case is affected by light and the action of your palms as you type. I'm afraid there is'nt much you can do about this long-term damadge!!!

I am just concerned to hear that it may happen on some of the newer VAIOs over a much shorter time period.

CW

Guys,

I was in London today and did my usual snoop around Tottenham Court Road... ...I saw some interesting and upsetting things re. this thread.

Firstly, the silver models (VGN-A) are just painted (not anodised, which binds the paint to the metal e.g. in Apple Powerbook). I realised this becasue one of the VGN-A's I saw on display had a wide scratch on it and underneath was....

.....some really crappy looking cream colored plastic!

Secondly, the new B models (that replaced the Z models) fair even worse. They have only been out about a week or so but I saw one where the spec. stickers had been removed and the palm rests had aready gone all shiny!!!!

This is really shoddy!!!

Looks like were going to have to take real care of our new VAIOs. Why cant they be madew more resistant like the Apple machines !?!

Come on Sony !!!! Pull you finger out... ...other wise my addiction to your products may be cured.

CW
