Hi all from Italy. Yesterday i was turning on my Vaio FR215M, when an error appeared to my eyes: ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM. I tried to switch on and off (CTRL - ALT- CANC) my computer to see if this bug was repeating; it happened all the times; so i decided to use drastic manners by using the restore cd, but when it started the partition (after 34 minutes) another message came to defy my hopes: DISK ACCESS: SENSE OPERATION FAILED! So my question is: Is there anybody else throughout the Vaio world that had the same problems in the past?!? A reply would be very appreciated. Arrivederci da Milano, Claudio.:smileyconfused: Weird blackout

Ciao Claudio,
doesn't sound very good.

One question to your process: did the recovery start and AFTER 34 min. of the recovery the error appears, or does it take 34 min BEFORE the recovery actually starts?

Nonetheless, try the following:
Enter the BIOS before booting to Windows (keep pressing F2 after turning your VAIO on).
Go to "Exit" and select "Get default values".
Go to "Exit saving changes" and try to run the Recovery Process again.

One other thing you might try out if you have e.g. a Windows 98 boot-disk: Boot into the DOS-prompt and type FDISK /mbr (this will rewrite your master boot record, without touching your data)

Good luck and please give feedback!
