safely remove hardware desktop icon

Hi all again ok got my modem instaled for broadband works great problem is i now have the icon to safely remove hardware desktop icon up all the time and cant get rid of it it just lets me remove it ?????
any help

As far as I know the only way is to right-click the notification area, and selecting Properties. Under the Notification area heading, click Customize. Find the Safely Remove Hardware icon and select Always hide in the Behavior column next to it (press OK and Apply to back out).

thanks for that Snipes i have now done that and it has gone the strange thing is it says device working properly ect ect but still get the remove hardware icon (when not hidden now )
i would have thought it shouldint show that if all was ok and i have done the search for hardware ect and all is ok lol

The only reson you have that is because you have a plug and play device, meaning you can unplug the modem anytime by safely removing it first.

As Snipes says it should hide it.

thank you two i thought i had set something wrong but i havent :smileygrin: thanks Kee_lo for that info i have hidden it now as it looks messy and i dont plan on taking the modem of but i will remember just incase i do
again thanks this site just gets better and better its a shame sony cant when you phone them for help it dissapoints me so much that the buyers know more than the sellers

it is very silly Kee_lo as it will no doubt cost them sales as things get more complicated
it is now that will make them a better company not later when people loss faith in them
no point upseting the people that buy there gear

its not the way to get respect of your buyers thou i mean how many companys wouldint have a clue why an alarm would go of on there gear ??????and what they said it COULD be was miles of and would have cost a few ££££ just to post my my to them and back let alone what they never knew about
i wish i had known about there customer support a few months back when i first got the problem and had asked them a few times on the phone no idea all the time send it in with some ££££ lol
and i have just spent a few £££ on a sony camcorder to cause it goes with my pc and they dont have a clue about that either
just goes to show that sony being as big as they are they dont seam to care about things after they have your cash
still happy with my sony goods thou its just a shame they cant follow up on all the great gear they do

now we know why they have this site so folk who dont work for them help others and dont get payed maybe they should give money of vouchers for the users that help the most not most post's but the most usfull help ect that would give the site a great boost not that it needs one but it would be great if sony would support the helpers as its them sorting out there problems :smileygrin:
maybe we should all get onto sony get you lot some money of vouchers or something

The problem with that is Brian, people would just come, post 1000 posts of cr*p, then say "I'll have my voucher" and never come back.

Whereas genuine helpers would getting annoyed with all the nonsense and go too.... probably.

yup but if that opinion turnt out to be right by ways of reply post's ect ie as you know i had a problem you said what it could be i replyed you were right its sorted sony didint have a clue i think they should let you know they appeciate your help to other users
