Hi Julie,

Firstly, I would try resetting the Windows Update Components. This is rather complicated - so the nice people at Microsoft have automated the process so all you have to do is click on the "Fix It" button here and follow the Wizard: -

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Come back if this does not work and we will try a System File Check and repair to see if any Windows components have become corrupt.

I clicked on the website you gave and it said I am using a different programme to one on there which was for vista, I am on windows 7, I am not brilliant on things of this nature and so have not carried out the process, will there be one for windows 7? am very wary, I have mcafee security with BT and so cannot understand why this has happened? many thanks julie

Hi Julie,

Yes that should be possible - however, the method depends on the Operating Systems.

What OS are you running on the second laptop? Windows 7, Vista, XP?

Do both connect to the same router wirelessly?

Is the printer connected to one of the laptops or is it a network printer connected directly to your router? If it is connected to one of your laptops, that PC will obviously have to be turned on to print from the other laptop.

Which printer do you have?
