Failing Disk Drive!!

Hi can any one help please.

I have a 6 month old vaio and when I start up its telling me I have a failing hard drive, back up files and replace. Press F1.

There is no noise from the laptop but it just freezes up all the time. How do I check if it is the hard drive?

Or do I just go to Sony to get fixed? Is this a manufactoring problem?

Any advice most welcome.

You can try various diagnostics - have a look at the tutorial here: -

However, if your Vaio is within warranty, I would send it to Sony to have a new drive installed.

Thanks I will try your suggestions, but will probably send back to Sony as ony 6 months old so still in warrant.
