Ethernet/Network controller issue after XP install on VGN-NR11Z

Gentlemen
Received a new VGN-NR11Z for Christmas. I successfully slipstreamed the machine to XP, found most of the drivers needed to complete the install…except the “Network and Ethernet controllers that still appear on device manager as not being installed. I’ve gone through the process of trying to reinstall the drivers via the ‘Hardware Update Wizard’ but nothing is found. This is no great problem as I use a USB wireless adapter… but would like to have a clean device manager, just in case! So, would anybody have an idea where I might find the appropriate drivers for these controllers?

Any help would much appreciated.

Hi John and welcome to Club Vaio.

I'm not 100% sure but I expect you have the same Network Controllers as the VGN N-Series Vaios. You will need the Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller driver and I have attached this to the bottom of this post as a .ZIP file.

Download it, right-click on it, choose "Extract All" and extract the three files to a temporary directory. Go to Device Manager and right-click on the uninstalled ethernet controller and choose 'Update Driver' -> No, not this time -> Install from a specific location -> Don't search, I will choose a driver -> Have Disc and browse to your download and point at yk51x86.inf

Many thanks for the welcome, and taking the time to help me with the driver...It's installed and working.

Now all I need to complete the downgrade to XP is the "Network Controller."

Any ideas? which network controller does the "VGN N-Series" use...would that be the one to go for, and if so, would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction.

Just to let you know that I’ve found the last driver required to complete the install on the Intel site.
Intel ® Pro wireless 3945ABG Network connection
