Hi, I own a Sony VAIO AR31S T7200 240GB VHP laptop and have noticed that the wireless network connection keeps dropping especially when a lot of data is being transferred. I have tested the connection with two different routers and by downloading data off the internet and transferring data (ie music) between the laptop and a Xbox via the media extender.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a software fix or could it be a hardware problem. I have updated through vaio update and windows vista update but the problem still occurs. If I connect through a wired connection the problem does not occur.

Please help as its driving me mad and im on the verge of reformatting or sending it back and Ive had it 6 months.

Many thanks for your help. Have you expereienced the same problem then? Mine drops connection alot when transferring lots (or a constant stream of data) does yours? It can be a pain when surfing because I have to sit there whilst it re-connects.

What I have noticed though is that if I establish a connection and do nothing it seems to stay connected. I know its not my network as I have another laptop and that work fine, I have also tried other routers. My current router is a Zyxcel.

At first I contacted my service provider and played hell saying it was their connection but I only realised it was still doing it when I disconnected the phone line and was transferring data to my Xbox 360 (I run the media centre extender so I can watch live TV, recorded movies and listen to music through it downstairs whilst my laptop is in my study).

Does the Sony update not automatically update these drivers? and is the link for the precise driver update I need? How can I tell?

Sorry if I seem a little primitive but im on a bit of a learning curve with all this networking stuff.

Id be interested to know if you have had any other probs / solutions too.

So many thanks for your help, I recall you helping me previously, thanks again!!

(Any others with suggestions or similar experiences would be appreciated too)

Chris
