Windows Media & Pinnacle problem

Hi,
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition on my VAIO VGN-FS515E and Windows Media Player isn't starting, it comes up with the error code:0xc06d007e.
I'm now having a problem with Pinnacle which I guess might be related - i get error code 0xc0000034 and it won't open either.
Tried to system restore, but the partition seems to have disappeared and it can't do it!
help!

Hi the great oggy,

welcome to Club Vaio..

Have you tired a system restore to a point when you last used Windows Media Player, HERE is a guide on the procedure..

If that does not help perhaps try reinstall Windows Media Player..

Well, I tried recovering my system but Windows System Restore won't let me restore to before December (2007)(the problem started in November). So I tried reinstalling Media Player but I got the error: 0xc0000034 when it was installing so now I don't have Windows Media Player anymore! Which is fine because I can use Realplayer and Quicktime instead but I think that maybe Pinnacle needs Media Player to function. I'm basically a very confused person!
