I have just got my VAio AR51M. I use a Microsoft Intellipoint mouse (plugs into a USB port) in preference to the trackpad:

Is there an option to turn the trackpad off when I have this mouse in use?

Hi hughgriffiths

welcome to Club Vaio..

The VCCPointingDevice will allow you to disable and enable the touchpad.

To make the process simpler to access it may be easier to place a shortcut to VCCPointingDevice.exe onto your desktop..

I have included a guide on the process should you wish to create a shortcut..

1. Right-click an open area on the desktop, point to New, and then click Shortcut.

2. Click Browse.

3. Goto C:\Program Files\Sony\Setting Utility Series and then select VCCPointingDevice.exe from the list of files, then click OK and then click Next.

4. Rename the shortcut to something more use friendly and click Finish.

hope this helps..

Thanks for this ... it's just that with my previous laptop (whisper the name - Dell) there was a tool that disabled the touchpad automatically if a mouse was attached.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thalamus said:

The VCCPointingDevice will allow you to disable and enable the touchpad.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
