Battery charge limiter

It would be very appreciated if Xperia team add a setting that allows users to prevent the battery percentage from reaching higher than 80% or 90% while the phone is being charged. This is good for longer battery lifespan.

Hi @Netgo7, let me see if I can help out here.

The Xperia 1 comes with a Battery Care custom mode. Battery care will start a regular charging cycle that temporarily stops when the battery level has reached 90%. The feature will then resume charging 70 minutes before user data indicates that the battery is expected to be fully charged, and charge until the battery level has reached 100%.

The custom mode enables you to manually set the times that Battery Care is active. To set and enable the custom mode for battery care, find and tap Settings > Battery > Battery care.

I hope that helped! For more information on Battery care and battery management, click here.

I know this is a good feature provided by Sony. I keep it turned on on auto mode, I usually charge my phone when it's 30s% on battery and unplug  my phone when it reaches 80% battery. Yesterday, I forgot it plugged and slept, It overnight charged and the estimation of battery life has signicantly decreased. It would be a big step forward if developers put like 3  threshold options (90%, 80%, 60%) like Asus battery care in their laptops.

Battery-life does not decrease in any way becuase you left it to fully charge over night.

During the energy course I took in college, there's a factor for each bettery called DOD (Depth of discharge) and this factor is less than 1, and it decreases each time you charge the phone, but it decreases significantly if the charge difference is big (e.g.  charging from 10% to 100% or from 20% to 90%). The battery life you get is multiplied by this factor so the less it becomes the less battery life you get. It's recommended to charge your phone from 30% to 80% to get the best out of your battery.
