Camera Error Xperia 1

Why does the camera on the awful Xperia1 give an unknown error?

I have tried reinstalling the software, clearing the cache and data and the idiotic piece of s**t still does not open.

This is the last time I buy a phone product from Sony.  Customer service is atrocious.  Hardware and software are a joke.  Do you test any of your products?

Anyway,  has anyone else got the same problem?  If so were you able to fix this without sending the phone away to be fixed?

Sorry for the rant but this is driving me crazy.

Do you get an error message or something? What is the camera doing - respectively not doing- exactly?

I once had an error with the Xperia 5's camera, saying it cannot start and I shall reboot. Rebooting didn't fix it so I deleted the app data and it was working again. Didn't have the issue since then, gladly.

Hi @DaleA, sorry to hear about this.

What does the error message say exactly, Does it just say "Unknown error" or does the error message contain additional information, for example that the camera is used by another app etc.?

You mentioned that you tried to reinstall the software on the phone, just to be clear, was it a factory reset that you tried or a software repair? These measures are kind of similar, however I would suggest the latter as the software repair will replace the current software on the phone while a factory reset only erases all user data. Keep in mind though that a software repair will also erase the user data so if it is advised to have your personal data backed up to your Google account.

If the error message still appears after a software repair, I believe that it is best to get in contact with your local support team in order to have the phone sent to an authorized service center for checkup and repair. If you have any questions regarding the service such as service routines, warranty and consumer laws, these kind of questions are best answered by your local support team as well.

I hope that helped! let me know if you have any further questions!

Just an unknown error.  No additional info provided.  It was the software repair that I tried which did nothing either.   The worst problem is that I need a phone for work and cannot be without one for 10 days whilst I wait for repair.   It really isn't good enough.

Thank you for the quick reply, @DaleA.

If the software repair do not manage to get rid of the error message, it might be related to hardware and in that case, the only thing to do is to get in contact with your local support team to have the phone examined and repaired.
