The fingerprint recognition rate is very high in the first three weeks (95%) like xzp, even if your fingers are sweaty and high humidity weather. Recently, it is obvious that fingerprints are often not recognized (30%). The recognition rate is very random, it will be very high in a few minutes, and it will be very low in a few minutes. I am not the only one complaining about this problem. Many many china Hong Kong version and china mainland versions are feel that the fingerprint function it’s not easy to use recently.
1.Sometimes the fingerprint recognition rate will be restored to a high level in a few minutes, but it will not work well after a while.Seems very random
2.Sometimes trun on screen first, then pressing the fingerprint will help a little.
3.Just finished fingerprinting and returning to the test page, the test will not be recognized immediately.Go back to the fingerprinting page can recognized again.
4.When the fingerprint recognition is unsuccessful on xperia1, then try XZP and Samsung with the same finger easily recognize it.
5.Even finger and sensor very clean and dry, change hands change person and reset system doesn't help.
I have a bad feeling, this is maybe a hardware problem.let's hope not.We are waiting for the first upgrade can solve it, if not will go to the maintenance service.
while the weather in the UK has been hot and humid, the fingerprint reader barely works, and it's irritating as the slightest bit of skin oils on the sensor and it refuses to work, partly as i think it's far too sensitive, as a tiny bit of skin contact it tries to read it, and eventually locks the phone even while just carrying the device.
Hardly hot and humid, what, 3 days or so of sun in a month... and thats us spoiled!
Anyhoo, Don't just set up the finger print sensor by keeping your finger on it and moving it left and right, make it set up the print from other angles, so put the finger straight up the side, then turn your finger 90 degrees to the phone, and set it up with your finger at other angles, guaranteed to sort the OP's issue out, and keeps it accurate all the time.
I originally set mine up like you, finger on, roll it, roll it more, move it to the other side, roll it, untili I added a second finger print, and just moved that all around till it was set, and it's now far more accurate, and hasn't skipped a beat since.

I recently read some reviews. The fingerprint module used by X1 is generally used on some $300 mobile phones, which is completely different from the module of XZP and other high-end mobile phones.Very disappointing experience, this fingerprint recognition is almost the same as buying a lottery ticket every day. If the next firmware upgrade not well resolved, refunds.

Roll a lot area, 5 finger print for one finger still the same. XZP has no problem at all,And single fingerprint record area much more than X1. I hope that the next upgrade can increase some fingerprint recording area.
I agree. I have a USA purchased X1. Fingerprint sensor worked great for first few weeks. Now it is so unreliable it's ridiculous. Has anyone sent their phone in for service on this? I'm past the return time period for my phone.

Try to registered your fingerprint multiple times. I had mine 3 records of the thumb alone
I am also experiencing the same exact problem. The recognition rate was very high at first but now it is getting worse and worse to the point where it is unusable. I've tried registering multiple fingerprints, cleaning sensor and hands, restarting device, and nothing works. It is super infuriating, hopefully there is some kind of software fix or Sony helps with replacements or something else.
So it appears that, the fingerprint scanning issue might be a software problem. At least from what I am experiencing. After registering just my thumb and then going to the support menu in the settings and running a fingerprint scanner test. It picks up that the thumb I used is a registered fingerprint but then after adding an index finger and then going back to the fingerprint scanner test, and using my thumb it again recognizes that a fingerprint was detected but it says that it is an unregistered fingerprint print (when it fact it is a registered print). Then I try to test the index finger that I just registered and It recognized that it is a registered fingerprint the first time but when I go to test it again with either my thumb or index it fails to recognize them as registered prints. So what I think is happening is that the fingerprint scanner is working but something in the software is not recognizing the registered prints and it is some how delinking or something.
