Hello,
Suddenly my headphones are not being recognized. In settings I don't have the sound options for the headphones. There is sound and music without the headphones.
Charger does work so it seems nothing is wrong with the USB-C port.
Tried restarting,new headphones et cetera.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks.
Michiel
So you have tried the dongle with replacement headphones/earphones?
And still no audio, but the usb c charger works to charge the phone? Yes?
If that's the case, it sounds like you've broken the dongle.
Have you got wireless headphones to test to see if the audio drivers still work and recognise external headphones?
Hi @michielgiel, sorry to hear about this.
You are using a wired headset with the dongle, is that correct? You mentioned that there seems to be nothing wrong with the USB port so I'm almost positive that is the cause, but I just want to be 100% sure!
It does sound like the dongle is defect since you can charge the device and there is no change when you try with a different pair of headphones.
Do you have a friend or a family member with an Xperia XZ2-series, Xperia 1 or Xperia 5 device and you can borrow their dongle to test with your device? You can also get in touch with your Local support team and they will assist you further with having the dongle replaced.
Let us know how it goes!
Thanks. I have ordered a new wired set with usb-c. Will let you know if it works.
@michielgiel, sounds good!
It feels like the adapter is the culprit, because if it was the port you wouldn't be able to charge the device either.
Looking forward to your update!
Just picked my new headphones with USB-C and everything is fine again!
I hope Sony will release high-end headphones with USB-C one day.
Thanks for the support!
Hi again @michielgiel and I'm sorry for the late reply. I got sick and had to stay in bed for a few days last week.
Awesome! Time to enjoy some good music again!
The only USB-C type of headset we have is the newly released STH50C but I can't say if they are good or not as they are not released here in the Nordics.
For the "real" headset/headphones over at Sony Electronics, I'm not quite sure what they have coming, but the trend in general for the past year(s) seems to more towards Bluetooth headset/headphones in general.
Now when you have working headphones again, get in touch with your Local support team and ask them how you can proceed with having the adapter replaced. I understand you are not going to use it now, but it may be good to have it as a backup for later on.
Have a fantastic day!
