I factory reset my phone the other day and later got an update. Why there is a chime playing while toggling through the notification Bell that's on top of the volume fader. ( After pressing the volume rocker) but importantly why am I only able to mute the sound while in DND mode? This phone continually disappoints especially when it starts screwing with my work. It chimes and vibrates even though I've turned touch sounds and vibrations off?
Today while watching TV on VUE the programs display was chopped off and displaced to the edge of the screen. Huge black bar going down the entire right side. The only way to make it go away way to try to take a screen shot. Then it went back to normal.
Last night I plugged my phone in to charge. I woke up to an almost dead phone because for the 4th or so time now the charger had to be wiggled around for the phone to recognize that it was even plugged in. It comes loose while talking and charging unless I set it down and use speaker.
It is only suited to work well with TMobiles 1900MHz 3G. I now know a lot about the cellular wireless spectrum. I can't use my phone at my house because the 1900 MHz signal is very weak where I live 23 miles from downtown. The 1900mhz spectrum is being phased out and if you travel cross country this phone will not be reliable source of communication or navigation. Major failure of a $1040 purchase because I was unaware and both TMO and Sony said they were compatible. I now know that it only works to a certain degree, one that I'm far away from.
The muting is a Google/Android 9 thing.
As to the issue of it still chiming, why not just swipe down, and enable airplane mode..stops all notifications and calls/text, etc, simple and silent.
The issue with the VUE seems to me like the phone was turned, so it's changed from portrait to landscape, or vice versa.
As to the charging cable, it's hard to say anything, as you could be rough with your electronics, but say you aren't and are super careful, but I guess talking on the phone, holding it, whilst plugged in, is going to strain the usb cable...it may be the cable, and not the phone actually.
And the cables are quite fragile, and you can't deny that.
Don't know about the signals in the US, but I really do hope I never have to get a phone over there, as the crappy networks and signals you have there, and silliness from networks puts me off.
Over here in the UK, you just slap in a sim, and it'll work on that network, if it's not good, then jump ship and try another.
No real answers but I thank you for trying.
I don't want to put my phone in airplane mode because I have do not disturb. The audible click wasn't there until after I did a system restore and got and update.
If you are able to take a peak at the Google play store and look up VUE, you'll see that the issue I explained is happening to others as of the same update that I mentioned screwed with the audible Chime/click. I see three variances while watching Vue now. In vertical mode the full screen is visible. When I turn the phone to landscape with top to the left the right side of the screen has a huge bar chopping of the right edge of the picture.
Trying to take the screenshot of it actually only sort of fixes things. The black bar disappears but there's still a noticable amount of the image missing from the right side.
When I flip the phone too landscape with the top now to the right it'll first take a few tries to include having to sleep the screen (lock screen) got it to finally happen but when it does the image looks just like it did after I try to take a screenshot of the bar,. It's right side is cut off with missing content.
I'm very particular and careful with electronics, cabling and storage. Yes, I've noticed wear n tare on one of there USB-A to micro cables that was provided with the Sony car stereo that was developed for use with the xperias.. that cable was used a lot and subsequently bent a lot. I forgive it for giving up years later. That's my point, it broke years later.
While laying in bed a few days or purceven after weeks and months after purchasing the phone and simply holding the phone to my ear or holding it in my hands to use it do not constitute rough or strenuous usage in my opinion. The cable isn't even taut or elevated much because I have a surge protector right behind my headboard. The power port is finicky. It has failed to charge a few times in different locations.
I've heard about how we as American consumers are being taken advantage of as far as cellular plans and coverage available to a lot of other "advanced" countries. I'm jealous.
The worst part about this phone and the issues I'm having is that I can't even use my phone most everywhere I go. The phone is not reliable as a source of communication in any format on the T-Mobile network.
I have WiFi connectivity issues too but I'm going to wait until I fix a router and port issue to say it's the phone. Yeah, I can't make reliable calls on WiFi either. This phone is useless to me at the moment.
