Hi,
I can't seem to get 4k content to stream through the native YouTube app on my KD-55X8509C. The latest firmware v3.925 is installed, I'm still on Marshmallow (hoping for the Nougat update soon) and the apps up to date. The videos definitely have 4k capability but the 'stats for nerds' option clearly states 1920x1080. Does the 'Viewport' mean anything (also 1920x1080)? Would broadband speed limit it? I don't have great broadband speed but I'd expect an option to try 4k and it stutter.
Please help as it seems rediculous that it doesn't work!
What do you mean by not having a "great broadband speed"? 4K video on Youtube need a fast internet connection (at least 30/40 mbps)...
Youtube app is now designed to detect automatically the speed of your network and the related resolution that can be provided, you don't have any control on it. Viewport is your panel capability and (due to some kind of weird decision) it displays a 4K panel as 1920x1080x2 - if you don't see x2 there is something strange going on...
