Five days ago sat down to watch TV and tried to turn it on with the remote but nothing happened. I then tried the following to get it working.
Replace batteries in remote.
Unplug all external HDMI Inputs
Use power button on side.
Unplug for 5 minutes and plug-in again.
At this point no luck so I tried doing a reset of unplugging, holding down the buttons on the side for half a minute, then plugging back in and holding down the buttons for another minute. This time a green light appeared on the TV but nothing on the display. Left for 30 minutes but nothing happened, the green light stayed steady. Phoned local TV repair man who advised to leave unplugged for 4 hours. Did this but still no joy despite trying some of the previous steps. Anyway TV man came to my home and bam immediately the thing worked when pressing the button on the remote. The TV had reset but also seemed to have updated to a newer version of Android/Google. Ran through the initial setup screens and everything seemed to be working.
Had five days of issue free use and then this evening I sat down to use it and again, no response from the TV so back where I was. I am not entirely sure what got it working again last time.
If any other owners of the model or knowledgeable Sony users are able to suggest a fix or explain what is going on that would be very appreciated. I really don’t want to have to buy a new TV as I am very fond of this design.
