KD49X8305C firmware update issue

Hi,

I've tried both, OTA and via USB stick. First one fails with timeout message second stops and reboots always at 54%. I've tried to do the update after factory reset as well. What else I can try to get this done?

Hi Arcadilius,

The downloaded version should work without any flaws if you follow the instructions on this page:
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-android-x83xxc-series/kd-49x8305c/downloads/00016...

Maybe the download of the file was interrupted or ended too soon.

Please try to download again.

Cheers

Peter

Hi mate,

Thanks for the tip, I've tried that - same result, stops exactly at the same point. Weird.

Cheers

Hi @Arcadilius   Just checking that you are using a quality USB stick, and not something bought from eBay that fool’s a computer that it is larger than it actually is.

Hi,

I do apologise for late reply. Yes, I've tried already 4 different medias (including hard drive) as source for the upgrade, different formats and what not. Every time process stopped at 54% and TV just crashed and rebooted. I've tried all the Voodoo stuff found in the dark abyss of the internet... no luck.

Have you tried resetting to factory setting the tv BEFORE trying to update it?

Of course mate - the one from system menu. I did tried also FORCED FACTORY RESET with buttons and power cord play, however this one is not working, at least steps in online instruction with 4 button model does not trigger factory reset. TV boots as normal.

Hi @Arcadilius

Apart from the issue with the update, is the TV playing up in any way?

I believe the update issue itself requires inspection as a Service centre. But if it's the only issue you're facing, it may not be worth it, especially if the TV is out of warranty.
