HDR-CX450 touch screen

Less than 1 month old. The screen is very unresponsive. The "OK" and "X" icons are placed at the edge of the top right frame and are partially obscured by the frame. It takes an inordiante time to register and make the intended selection. I have to fiddle around with the alignment of my finger and the screen to activate the command. 

Is this a faulty screen? I can't find a Sony technical contact number or site that will deal with this matter. Or should I return it to the supplier?  Overall the clarity and usefullness of the manuals and instructions are woeful and if the key input feature  (The touch screen) is inadequate I can't see any value in the product.
