My sound bar, HT-CT80, does not switch off.

Both the off button on the sound bar and the remote does not switch off the sound bar. It stays on even when I switch the TV off. I have the sound bar connected via an optical cable. TV is a Sony. 
Could this be a hardware problem, needing a replacement switch (possibly replacing the PCB the switch is mounted on)?
