bios flashing

Is it possible to flash the bios without an internal floppy drive.

can it be done by cd drive or external floppy drive

i used the winflasher that sony packed with the bios update. see if it is also availabe for your bios type and version

it has an application called phlash which is I think the wi ndows flasher but it reports the error 'emm386 or similar is running'
any idea how I can turn off this emm386.
I have been into the system settings via control panel and turned off the hard drive paging settings but that does not help

have you tried booting into the safety-mode and then run the win flash utitliy

You could create a bootable CD and flash from that. All at your own risk of course
