Hi
Can anybody please tell me why the clock in the system tray on my vaio VGN-UX1XN stops working when I shut down the computer and how to fix it!
Many thanks
Gordon
Hi Gordon and welcome to the forum
The usual cause of this is failure of the CMOS battery that powers the real time clock but this is usually a gradual process starting with a regular loss of time followed eventually by a BIOS reset to default time.
If this sounds familiar then replacing the CMOS battery may resolve the issue. Otherwise there could possibly be further complications with the battery connections or circuitry.
Either way, with your model, I would imagine that this is a job for the Sony tech guys.
EDIT: Just reread your post – can you confirm whether the time is reported incorrectly or the time icon is missing?
Hi, thanks for the reply. this unit is brand new so i would be suprised if the battery was flat and yes the clock is displayed in the system tray. It looks like I am going to have to email Sony!
