My laptop has behaved perfectly for 3 years although battery has got tired. Left it off for a couple of weeks, tried turning it on from battery initially - no joy. Plugged the mains in - still no life - not even the charging light.
Tried all the usual stuff, mains with no battery, power switch held for 30 seconds with battery out, etc.
Green light on PSU fine. Opened up the laptop - checked 19.5v getting through the jack onto the motherboard. Checked the MB fuse - fine. No signs of any damage, overloading, burn or anything.
A local repair shop said change the MB at stupid cost - but I don't believe its the answer. Could a new battery/ PSU fix this?
Hi FlySox,
The only thing that I can think of apart from a complete motherboard failure is that the power Mossfet IC has failed. If this is the case you can have it replaced under a fixed motherboard repair for approx. £140 inc. VAT & shipping.
