I've had my Vaio since April and have been using SonicStage 2.3 succesfully. I then saw a link on the site to download a newer version of SonicStage (I think it may have been version 3.2, although not a 100% sure on that). Downloaded it succesfully, plugged in my Vaio Pocket and it said that to use it on this software it needed to be "initialised". It also said that initialising it would wipe all the music off it. I didn't want that as I have a fair bit so i decided to uninstall this version of SonicStage and reinstall the 2.3 version. After doing this my Vaio now does not work on it. It says the audio device device cannot be used with this version of SonicStage. I re-downloaded the firmware update from this site as well and redid that on my Vaio but it still doesn't work! Can anyone help?
The VP may still be detecting SS 3.x on your system
Are you sure it had been fully uninstalled before putting 2.3 back on?
Also - have you updated VAIO music transfer to the correct patch level?
Yeah the music transfer software also says that it cannot be used with this version of Vaio music transfer. And the SonicStage3.2 was uninstalled using the uninstalling software and I can't find any other bits of it on my computer!

I think you must completly uninstall sonicstage on your computor, i had to do it myself a couple of days ago and i followed this way to do it and it worked. http://forums.minidisc.org/lofiversion/index.php/t8071.html
I hope it works for you.
Hi,
Looks like we both have the same problem (as below, posted in another thread).
Have you had any luck so far in rectifying the problem....if so i would like to hear from you, as im still stuck.....maybe two heads working together can solve it!!
Hope to hear from you ....

After following advice posted on the forums, I downloaded and installed SonicStage 3.2 on my PC. However, it failed to recognise my Vaio pocket VGF-AP1L, I could not access it via sonicstage and could not transfer via Vaio music transfer (before I could use both).
I uninstalled SonicStage 3.2 & reinstalled SonicStage 2.3 Update, (returning everything to how it was prevoiusly).
But even now after following the 3 steps on the VAIO Pocket VGF-AP1 and VGF-AP1L Firmware Upgrade pages:
http://www.vaio-link.com/vaiopocket/firmware/firmware.asp?l=en
Even after carrying out these three steps, Sonicstage & VAIO music transfer both fail to recognise my player.
I would gladly welcome any help!
Thanks
MC
I¿m a bit mystified why VP users have upgraded to Sonic Stage 3.2
As far as I can tell Sonic Stage 3.2 is NOT intended for use with the VAIO Pocket.
It seem to have been developed for Mini Disc players ¿ I can¿t find any information that suggests it is compatible with the VGF-AP1L at it latest ( and probably final) firmware patch.
I¿m prepared to be proven wrong ¿ so I would be interested if anyone can confirm that they are successfully using SS3.2 with a VP at firmware patch 3.0.0.C171F

I am using SS3.2 with 3.0.0.C171F with no problems at all with the bonus of being able to play MP3's directly from the player on the PC.
