Over the weekend my 6 month old PCG-Z1 decided that it could not come out of hibernation, Windows would not load, etc, etc.
Used the supplied recovery disk only to get a message 'Disk access : Sense operation failed' part way through reloading the operating system. Then the hard drive could not be found at all.
Tried to go to the e-Support area only to be told my email address could not be found in their database. Of course there is no help email address to contact if the website messes up.
Went back to my registration details, changed the email address to a different one, went back to eSupport to create an account but my email address can still not be found.
I have had Sony laptops for a number of years but if the online support is going to be so useless it might be time to buy a cheap alternative with better support and throw my expensive paper weight in the bin.
witcombe@excite.com
That's more than a little annoying I'm sure. Was there a question? Or simply wanting to let off a little steam?
I was rather hoping that Sony might actually monitor their forum so they could:
1. Change their website so there was a way of getting in touch with them if their system messed up.
2. Reply online so that if others encounter the same problem they will have a documented way out
Is there anybody out there?
I apologise for that 'Email not found' thing....I haven't seen that for a quite a while in the forum I thought they must have fixed it by now. As you can see from my signature it's a common problem and yes, irritating and amateurish.
support@vaio-link.com is reputedly their generic support email address but nobody has confirmed it yet.
Edit: I forgot I changed my signature lol but it was common enough for me to let people know so they wouldn't have to ask.
This forum is not run by Sony Support
As TT says, try that e-mail address.
Thanks for the email address. Will email (and probably phone to try and get the machine repaired some time this year) ...
As the look of the forum page is the same as the rest of the site (and contains a Sony disclaimer at the bottom) perhaps a more prominent note stating that the forum is not controlled by Sony would be in order
?

Good point Mike.
