i dont have recovery cd..

hi everyone i have formated my pc with a windows xp sp2 cd. but i cant use the programs came with pc. how can i recover them back... when i bought the pc they didnt give me any recovery cd or like that... now what do i have to do... couse i need virus program and internet security... my pc is vgn a215m and i have dvd problems too... its performance is not good... please help... my english isnt well... if u can explain one by one i will be glad.. thanx

Welcome to Club Vaio,
Each Vaio has a unique software bundle. When you installed a separate software platform you should have entered the Identification key from the green sticker on the base of your PC. Follow the instructions from the following link here and reinstall your windows. Your software will be on a hidden partition on the C drive but in future make a copy of this on DVD. Good Luck

Usually one copy of the recovery disks is stored in hisr Hard-Disk. If you formatted teh Hard Disk, I can understand that you lost access to these programs. The only way that you can recover these disks is buying them of Sony. They cost around 70,00 euros here in Europe. Request the same ones through the e-support and they will be delivery at his house.

i didnt delete utilitiy part i delete only c and d but... but i cant install vaio recover utility program which i have downloaded from vaio.link.com its giving error... do u know any other ways to recover??

my vaio came with recovery on its hard drive and not on a cd.
i havent copied it to a cd but ive removed programs and intalled others and stuff,how does this effect the recovery partition with the software i have unistalled when and if i make a back up cd?

you deleted the copy from the recovery discs also...


Maybe you must ask at e-support what you can do, because i think the only way is buying new discs.

You can change the size from the partition C and D at any time. Just put the files from Recovery Disc´s at Cd´s or Dvd´s before do that.

If you lost this files, to get back... just buying a new set of discs.

That´s mean +- 70,00 euros.

no havent lost files i just removed some software ansd i dont know if the are removed from the recovery utility,
if i recover at any point ,not from the cd but from my hard disc if the removed programs are gonna be in the recovery utility?

schizophrenic, if you have chosen to format the C & D drive and not the entire hard disk then the recovery partition should still be there as it is not part of either of these partitions.

To check this out; right click on the My Computer desktop icon, select manage and then single click on Disk Management. Look for a partition on Disk 0 with no drive letter, a Fat 32 file system and a capacity of approx. 7 or 8 GB.

If it is still there, the recovery process can be started by pressing F10 at boot when you see the Sony logo.

Zina, removing or adding software as you describe has no effect on the recovery partition.
The recovery disks that you will make will still be the same as if you burnt them when you first received your computer. Whether you use recovery disks or the HDDR utility the result will be the same ¿ your computer will be returned to `as delivered¿.
