Has anyone made a list of apps that come pre-installed on a VAIO that are safe to uninstall? I've got rid of a few and it has already sped up my machine but there are a few left:
VAIO Control Center
VAIO Data Restore Tool
VAIO Entertainment Platform
VAIO Event Service
VAIO Hardware Diagnostics
VAIO Media AC3 Decoder 1.0
VAIO Power Management
Someone mentioned to me that the OS (Vista) takes care of power management and that the VAIO app for that is therefore unneccesary. Any ideas for this and also whether any of the above can be safetly removed?
Thanks.
If you've already made your back up DVD's then you can delete all of them, but personally I recommend keeping Event Service and Contol Center.
OK thanks.
Yes I have the backups but it'd be great to hear from anyone who knows what these processes do and whether or not they would adversely affect the running of the laptop...save me the hassle of having to rebuild it when it all falls apart!!
Cheers.
EDIT------- I've had a look and seen that all of the apps are in the /apps folder of the recovery disk with their own setup.exe file - does this mean you can reinstall each one seperately from a windows session without problems?
Hi, Have you ever managed to compile the list of apps/programs that are safe to uninstall? I have an incredible long list of program that I've probably never used and the laptop pops out with different errors, too often! I wish to clean up the list but I wouldn't want to delete anything important which would render my laptop useless.
