I have a Vaio laptop PCG-K315Z. I plugged some powered speakers into the headphone socket on my laptop. I listened to a sound extract and it worked fine. Since then I have no sound of any description, either throught the powered speakers or through the laptop' s speakers. My concern is have I damaged the soundcard or something. I've re-booted and still the problem persists. I've checked device manager and it says all the sound devices are working properly. Anyone any ideas?
I know it sounds obvious but is the sound muted?
Start>Settings>Contoll Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Volume>Advanced.
Also, try reinstalling the driver.
This sounds hardware related, as plugging in external speakers should have no effect on the software configuration or drivers.
However, as a last resort, if Twisted-Rizla¿s suggestions have no effect, try removing the sound device in Device Manager and then re-boot and let Windows find and reinstall the device.
