My Vaio is sick - turns itself off after about a min. HELP!!!
My Vaio is about 4 years old PCG-FX501 but it has been a good little laptop. Just recently I turn it on and I get the sony vaio logo and chime and then windows starts to load and then after about 90 seconds it just shuts off very suddenly as if the power has been removed. I have tried the obvious things check the AC adapter is working and I tried removing the battery but the outcome is the same. If anyone has had this fault before and can shed a little light on what can be done (if anything) I would greatly appreciate it. I am a certified laptop engineer with another computer manufacturer and would feel confident to carry out any repairs myself.
Thanks
Pete

Hi Pete and welcome to the forum.
This sounds like a hardware problem but have you tried booting in safe mode in order to eliminate a driver problem?
If that doesn¿t work I would suggest investigating memory problems for starters

As you're an engineer I would open it up and check the fans, clean them too
