No messenger voice chat

Hi, I am a proud owner of a VGN-A317M with XP / McAffee AV software.
I cannot get my Yahoo voice mail to activate. Yahoo sez it's not their side.
Notebook has been recovered to original setup, still has problem. Please help !!!! 😞

on step 5:- /message box / "yahoo voice chat error:- Mixer error.

On opening instant message box for friend and clicking n 'voice chat'/ message box / unable to initialise your computer's audio mixer.

Any / all advice in how to correct above appreciated.

If it is a realtek sound card, a Google suggests that there is a compatibility issue. I suggest that you have a look at both the Yahoo and Realtek sites for a solution or switch to MSN or Skype.
