Recording/Playback problems

Hi All,
Only just discovered the forum after struggling for 3 weeks with my VP. I've updated firmware and SS 2.3 but main problems are: -
1. SS CDDB does not seem to recognise any CD.
2. Recording to mp3 sometimes misses the beginning or end of a track. sometimes the end of one track is repeated at the beginning of the next track.
3. How do I get rid of the "gap" between tracks (this is really annoying on live albums).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

regarding question 3: gapless playback is ONLY possible if you use the ATRAC / ATRAC3plus format.

Hi there,
Regarding SS CDDB try to reset your fire wall settings and allow SS or CDDB to run through it. I had the same problem before and I have changed the settings and now is working OK

Thanks Scaramanga, CDDB now working fine..........still can't get gapless playback though!

Thanks for the reply. I've now tried recording to mp3, ATRAC3 and ATRAC3plus formats. All resulted in a gap between tracks.
Am I missing something somewhere?
