Sony Vaio VGN-A115B CD/DVD Issue

Hi Everyone,

I am completely new to this forum and am hoping that someone may have the answer which has been eluding me for days...

I have a Vaio VGN-A115B. The laptop stopped working some time ago so I replaced the hard drive and reinstalled it with XP Pro.

Unfortunately, now my CD/DVD tray won't open using the large eject button on the casing, I have to use the tiny button on the tray itself.

Does anyone know how I reset the tray to open from the large button?

I no longer have a manual for the laptop.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Richard,

The most likely cause is that you have not reinstalled all the Vaio Utilities when you replaced the hard drive and the OS.

You can download the Original Utilities Package for your model from here: -

I did download these yesterday but thought that these were just original programs from Sony.

I will install them today and let you know if that fixes it.

Would you believe that I just ran the Utils package in 42 seconds and it fixed the problem?

I feel like an idiot but am so glad that there are people here willing to help.
