Whenever I try to transfer tracks back to the PC, it seems not to work. Nothing appears in "my library" and the tracks are gone from the VP. So, I have to keep all my music on both the PC and VP.
Anyone else experience this? Am I missing something?
I may be wrong, but I don't think that you can transfer your music from the VP to your PC. It is really a shame but the best think you can do is to create a backup of your library with SS and then transfer this backup to the VP. Then, at any point you can put the backup to the PC and restore your library.
This method works as I did it when I did a format on my PC.
hmmm, thanks constantine_jk.... seems a bit odd to have the arrow that would indicate transfer from the VP to the PC then.
But... based on experience, I think you're right.
I know what you mean. Well, I may be wrong so please someone correct me if I am. I did this test (transfer from VP to the PC) before the format and it didn't work and thus I had to do a backup.
yeah, that's the test i should have done before trying to transfer all my tracks back to the PC before upgrading to SS3.1.
Doh!
I use SonicStage with both a VP and also with a flash memory player (actually an MS Walkman). with the MS Walkman I need to transfer the tracks back into SonicStage before loading more tracks on to it. The return arrow does this for me.
Withe VP I have all tracks in SS and also on the VP. I don't need to transfer tracks back into SS.
If you want to delete the tracks from SS after loading to the VP then I strongly recommend taking a backup as identified above.
SS and the VP work best if you don't delete the tracks though.
Good luck.
Did the files originate from the PC you are trying to copy back to??
I recorded all my CD'd to SS then to the VP. then I had a slight PC issue which resulted in re format and installation of XP again. Because this version of XP (although from the same disk) has a different reg.number the VP does not recognise it as the source for the files on the VP and therefore will not allow me to copy them back. Uncle SONY preventing the proliferation of copied music. I understnad this but what a pain in the but! a reg code on the SS software would have been a better answer! This could be the reason for your problem!

Most files were transferred from the same PC I was trying to transfer back to. A handful were from a different machine, but SS warned me it would not be able to do those. They just disappeared...
There is a way somehow to transfer to/from more than one machine, but I have yet to work it out. If anyone would tell me it would be great... then I could make more productive use of my time in the office!
Yes, I have the same problem. After the reinstallation of Win XP and SS 2.3 I can't play all my songs which I had copy from cds before. Does anybody knows a solution.
