Vaio FR-105: Display sometimes brighter, sometimes darker... HELP!

Hi all!

My FR105 is about 2 years of age now and I'm getting some trouble with its display. Sometimes it is bright, the other second it gets darker...
Still I can see things but don't really know how long it'll take to stay dark forever...
If I move the display I sometimes can get back the original brightness.
Can anybody help? I bought a Sony because of its fantastic reputation ... ... ... ... ...

Sounds like

a) the inverter is going
b) the LCD cable is giving out...

okay... so:

a) whats the inverter?

b) can I fix it myself?

Any other ideas from other users, too?

If it's under warranty I would get Sony to do it.

The inverter shows the image on the LCD.
You can fix it yourself if you can find the parts and feel confident to do it.
