Hey
My Sony Vaio laptop got stolen in December 2010, along with my other belongings . I bought the model “VGNFE21B.CEK” for £890 laptop from the Sony Centre, Bluewater ,Kent UK..
My insurers are quoting that the exact model mentioned above doesn’t not exist in the market today and hence they are replacing my old laptop with a like a like Sony vaio laptop for £480.
Surely it sounds like they are trying to offer me the cheapest deal??
a) Do you know if they still have the VGNFE21B.CEK on the market? If so, how much is the market value?
b) If one is replacing the VGNFE21B.CEK model, what will be the nearest Sony Vaio laptop with exact or similar specification to the VGNFE21B.CEK? One assumes that there is an upgrade of VGNFE21B.CEK?
Thanks
raj
Hi Raj,
Unfortunately the FE-Series Vaios were discontinued in Q3 of 2007 and since then we have seen the FZ-Series, the FW-Series and the nearest current model, the VPCF13-Series.
The VPCF13V5E costs about £899 and is the bottom of the range and although it is much better than your FE-Series, it could probably be called one successor.

The other, perhaps better, successor would be a 15.5 inch screen Vaio (similar size to your FE). Have a look at the VPCEB-Series - I think you will probably find that the vpceb4l9e-bq would be a much fairer replacement costing £660: -
