My Vaio's wireless Lan connectivity won't turn on, any solutions?
Hi Russbod and welcome.
You need the Vaio Smart Network working as it is a software switch for the Wireless.
If you can't open Vaio Smart Network by clicking on the WiFi icon in the system tray, then I would reinstall it.
Download and run Vaio Smart Network from here: -
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/preinstalled/preinstalled.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&m=3076
and then also install the update from here: -
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/updates/updates.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&m=3076
then open it by clicking on the icon in the system tray and check the box next to 2.4MHz Wireless LAN.

Hi joes1999999,
The VGN-FE series came installed with ‘Wireless Switch Setting Utility’ (a green LAN icon in the system tray) which was the forerunner of ‘Smart Network’.
If this is missing or you want to try reinstalling this utility you will find it either in C:\Utils folder or the Utilities package at the following link:
http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/preinstalled/index.aspx?l=en_GB&m=VGN-FE41E
I haven’t tried but I doubt that installing ‘Vaio Smart Network’ intended for a later model will work.
EDIT:
If a recovery to factory defaults has failed to cure the problem then it is almost certainly hardware or router related.
